<p>Pfeffer confirms what I have long believed: &#8220;the evidence on the effects of downsizing is remarkably consistent: According to peer-reviewed published studies, downsizing does not increase productivity, profits, stock price, or innovation.&#8221;</p>
<p>He goes on to describe what kinds of companies are not subject to the vicissitudes of market fluctuations. Does your company fit into that profile?</p>
